Born from a Love for the Wild

Vantara Gir Resort was born from a singular vision: to create a space where the untamed beauty of one of India's greatest wildlife sanctuaries could be experienced in complete comfort and style.

Our founder, a third-generation Gujarati with a lifelong love for the Gir forest, spent years observing the landscape, understanding its seasons, and learning from the Maldhari communities who have coexisted with lions for generations. What emerged was not just a resort, but a living philosophy.

Every structure at Vantara is built with locally-sourced materials. Every pathway follows the natural contours of the land. Every experience is designed to foster a genuine connection between our guests and this extraordinary ecosystem.

What We Believe In

Three pillars guide everything we do at Vantara — luxury, nature, and community.

🌿

Nature First

Every decision at Vantara is guided by our commitment to the natural world. We are guests in this forest — and we design our resort to remind our guests of that same humbling truth. Sustainability is not a policy here. It is a culture.

Genuine Luxury

Luxury at Vantara means waking to birdsong, stepping onto your private deck at dawn, and dining under an open sky. It means exceptional food, thoughtful service, and the rare privilege of stillness. Real luxury is experiential, not ornamental.

🤝

Community & Culture

Vantara is deeply rooted in the Gir region's rich cultural tapestry. We employ local staff, source local produce, celebrate local festivals, and support the Maldhari communities whose ancestral relationship with the Gir forest is unparalleled.

The Last Kingdom of the Asiatic Lion

Gir National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary is the only place in the world where Asiatic Lions roam wild. Spread across 1,412 sq km in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat, Gir is a UNESCO World Heritage site candidate and one of India's most important conservation success stories.

Beyond the lions, the ecosystem supports leopards, hyenas, jackals, crocodiles, and an extraordinary diversity of birdlife. The dry deciduous forests shift with the seasons — lush and green in monsoon, golden in winter, and dramatic in summer.

Vantara sits at the edge of this kingdom, offering a front-row seat to one of nature's greatest spectacles while keeping you wrapped in the warmth of our hospitality.
